Kingdom Purpose

As inscribed under the dome on the Jefferson Memorial…

“Well aware that the opinions and belief of men depend not on their own will, but follow involuntarily the evidence proposed to their minds; that Almighty God hath created the mind free, and manifested his supreme will that free it shall remain by making it altogether insusceptible of restraint; that all attempts to influence it by temporal punishments, or burthens, or by civil incapacitations, tend only to beget habits of hypocrisy and meanness, and are a departure from the plan of the holy author of our religion…”[1]

As originally penned by Thomas Jefferson…

“Well aware that the opinions and belief of men depend not on their own will, but follow involuntarily the evidence proposed to their minds; that Almighty God hath created the mind free, and manifested his supreme will that free it shall remain by making it altogether insusceptible of restraint; that all attempts to influence it by temporal punishments, or burthens, or by civil incapacitations, tend only to beget habits of hypocrisy and meanness, and are a departure from the plan of the holy author of our religion…[2]

Everyone has a Kingdom Purpose.

It was hard-wired and pre-baked into me before I took my first breath.[3]  God put it there because I was created to accomplish specific and particular things for Him.  I can strengthen and refine it or ignore it ‘til it gets so weak it’s hard to perceive.  I can temper it so people can take it or allow it to run rough-shod over the people it’s supposed to help.  I can put it on a business card and brag about it to those I meet or I can use it to help them.  What I can’t do—what God won’t allow me to do— is eliminate it.  I have a Kingdom Purpose.  Everyone has a Kingdom Purpose.  You have a Kingdom Purpose.

Even so, I must intentionally choose to align myself with my Creator and His intention for me. I must begin to recognize my Kingdom Purpose, activating and nurturing it by discovery, acceptance, honing, refining and submission[4] to God.  If I don’t, it doesn’t mean I won’t accomplish His purpose for me, in His Kingdom, it just means I won’t perceive my Kingdom Purpose and will find myself working contrary to it and the very purpose God intended when He created me.  Instead of serving Him, I will be elevating myself, at least in practice, to His position of Master of the Universe.  I will be serving myself.  I may not even mean to oppose God.  I may even profess to be “Christian.”  What I won’t be doing, at least in this case, is acting as a disciple… a true “Christfollower.  C’mon… say it with me… “Idolatry.”

I have a Kingdom Purpose.  Everyone has a Kingdom Purpose.  You have a Kingdom Purpose.

As a Christfollowers, I must be about my Father’s business.  As a Christfollowers, we must be about our Father’s business.  As a Christfollower, you must be about your Father’s business.[5]

For us at Life Christian Fellowship, we see this as our Kingdom Purpose.

At LCF, our Kingdom Purpose is to be wildly successful.

Now don’t get nervous.  We’re not out for your money :-).  We favor real success.

Here’s how we define it:

  • KNOWING God intimately, through Jesus Christ,[6] and by that relationship, progressively knowing and operating in our purpose.[7]
  • GROWING in Christian maturity,[8] and towards the maximum potential seeded into us by God, before the foundation of the world.[9]
  • SOWING Kingdom seeds[10] that bring abundance[11] into the lives of those we meet, and into leaders who will carry this vision generationally.[12]
